Sudely Castle (15 mins*.)Final resting place of Katherine Parr; the last of King Henry VIII’s six wives. Surrounded by a 1200 acre estate, and ten award wining gardens.
Ragley Hall (20 mins*.)Home to the Marquess of Hertford and hosting a wide range of events from fireworks & picnic concerts, to the Game Fair.
Broadway (7 mins*.)Often referred to as the 'Jewel of the Cotswolds' and the 'Show Village of England' because of it's sheer beauty and magnificence, with its streets lined with ancient honey coloured limestone buildings dating back to the 16th century. Home to a colony of artists that settled in this village, including Oscar Wilde, Claude Monet, Edwin Abbey, John Singer-Sargent, William Morris and Edward Elgar.
Broadway Tower (7 mins*.)An 18th century folly, this tower stands atop the hill overlooking the village. A much loved retreat for the Arts and Crafts Movement founder William Morris. On a clear day you can see no fewer than 14 counties from the top of it whilst rewarding yourself with tea and cake from its lovely cafe.
Cotswold Lavender (10 mins*.)Over 40 different varieties, some 140 miles of rows and over 500,000 plants in total. Best time to visit, mid June/ July, weather depending!
Sezincote house and gardens (15 mins*.)Sezincote is unique. At the heart of a traditional, family-run estate covering 4,500 acres of rolling Cotswold countryside stands a 200-year-old Mogul Indian palace, set in a romantic landscape of temples, grottoes, waterfalls and canals reminiscent of the Taj Mahal. Batsford Arboretum (15 mins*.)Spectacular in the spring and autumn. Britain’s largest private collection of trees and shrubs. Also home to the Cotswold Falconary and Cotswold Archery centres.
Stow on the Wold (25 min*.)Beautiful Cotswold town with an abundance of cafes, antiques and art shops. Visit en route to Daylesford.
Cotswold farm park (20 mins*.)BBC’s Countryfile’s Adam Hensons farm park. Perfect for smaller guests with over 50 British rare breeds of Animals. Fantastic in the spring for lamb feeding.
Bourton on the Water (25 mins*.)Very popular in the summer, due to the River Windrush running through the picturesque town. Home to Birdland, the Cotswold Motoring and toy museum, and 1930’s replica Model Village.
Burford (40 mins*.)Gateway to the North Cotswolds with a very picturesque high street and plenty of good dining options. Also home to the fabulous 'Selfridges for Gardens', Burford Garden Centre.
Chipping Campden (15 mins*.)Another gem. A small Cotswolds market town notable for its elegant terraced High Street, dating from the 14th century to the 17th century. Annual music and literature festivals, and plenty of shopping and tea rooms. Visit en route to Kiftsgate Court Gardens.
Cheltenham (25 min*.)Beautiful Regency town. Home to the renowned Cheltenham Festival, 4 days of horse jump racing culminating in the Gold Cup, held annually in March at Cheltenham Racecourse (now accessible by steam train from Broadway!) Loads on all year round with a plethora of festivals, such as Literature, Jazz and Science. Also known for its Pittville Pump Room; a remnant of Cheltenham’s past as a spa town. Several fine dining restaurants here.
Stratford-upon-Avon (30 min*.)The 16th century birthplace and now cultural centre of William Shakespeare. Book in advance for the theatre at the RSC on the picturesque banks of the River Avon.
Warwick Castle (50 mins*.)The ‘best medieval castle in Europe’. A fantastic day out for all ages, with live battle enactments, activities, archery, beautifully presented castle complete with waxworks, and wonderful grounds.
Walk the Cotswold Way (from Broadway) Over 100 miles of Cotswolds countryside. Follow the Cotswolds escarpment with its stunning views and charming villages from the beautiful Cotswold market town of Chipping Campden in the north to the World Heritage City of Bath in the south.
